Radiah Blanton
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, National American University
The University Center Model was designed to serve as an option for attainment of baccalaureate and master's degrees by making 4-year institutions accessible through partnerships with a community college. This model has been prevalent on select community college campus for almost 20 years, with little research to substantiate the effectiveness of the model. A case study was conducted at one of the longest standing University Centers in the country to begin to identify the characteristics that attribute to the success of the model. Examined in this study were the host community college and four onsite 4-year universities. The community college university center model and its effectiveness in student goal attainment, operational effectiveness, and the relationship with the host community college was explored herein. The results of study will help to identify common indicators of success for the university center model. Findings from this study may also allow for recommendations to replicate the model, an evaluation process for effectiveness, and areas for future research.
