Women Leading Women: An Examination of the Working Relationships between Female Leaders, Subordinates and Peers in Christian Higher Education
Stacey Lynn Berggren
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Trevecca Nazarene University
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between women leaders and subordinates in Christian higher education and explore potential positive and negative effects women have on one another in the workplace. Of particular interest was how women work with one another, promote leadership opportunities for one another, and support each other. This qualitative study used a narrative inquiry research approach, seeking to learn about the lived experiences of women. The researcher interviewed 18 women and the interviews were coded and categorized, revealing common themes. Women were found to be interested in serving in leadership roles at Christian universities. Women who work for or alongside women leaders stand ready to mentor, support, encourage, and equip them. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
