A Qualitative Study Examining the Impact of Professional Development on Elementary Teachers' Technology Self-Efficacy and Integration Efforts

ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, University of Louisiana at Monroe
The increased integration of technology within the K-12 classroom has contributed to the change in the teacher's role within education. Although technology has proven to be beneficial to the education system for students, teachers are struggling with successful technology integration (Mundy et al., 2012; Tallvid, 2016). Effective professional development and teacher support are often seen as a major influence on overall teacher success and increased teacher self-efficacy. Bandura (1986) defined self-efficacy as a person's beliefs in themselves to achieve a specific outcome. The purpose of this study was to determine, from the perspective of a teacher in a one-to-one learning environment, the relationship between professional development and teacher perceptions of self-efficacy and technology integration efforts. Based on the findings of this study, (a) follow-up support, (b) relevancy of the topic, and (c) personal and professional factors directly influence the impact of professional development on technology integration efforts and teachers' technology self-efficacy.
