This qualitative case study examined the impact of student death on teachers who educate students with life-limiting and/or life-threatening conditions. To date, research is extremely scarce regarding this small, specialized group of educators. Data was gathered utilizing four open-ended journal entries, three personal artifact videos and one personal letter. All data gathered addressed the study's three guiding research questions: (a) After the death of a student with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions, how do teachers understand the impact of the death personally? (b) After the death of a student with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions, how do teachers understand the impact of the death professionally? (c) After the death of a student with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions, how do teachers explain their classroom relationships to students? After thorough data analysis the following major finding emerged: When it comes to the death of a student with life-limiting and/or life-threatening disabilities, all aspects of the teacher's lives are impacted; personal, professional and relational.
