Roger Stanley Anacki
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, University of Florida
School climate has been shown to improve student academic performance. Therefore, improving school climate has become a central goal for schools across the nation as a means of improving student achievement. The purpose of this study was to examine the association between three aspects of school climate (leadership, teaching, and resources) on 3rd and 5th grade reading achievement of students from low and mid SES schools. This study utilized multiple linear regression and correlational analysis to examine this relationship. Results showed significant association between the combined constructs of leadership, teaching, and resources on 3rd and 5th grade reading in mid SES schools. Additionally, a positive correlation was assessed between reading achievement, leadership, and resources in 5th grade low SES schools. Within mid-SES schools, a positive correlation was observed between 3rd and 5th grade reading achievement and all three constructs of school climate.
