"Starting to Connect the Dots": Using Virtual Reality to Engage Students in Deep Learning and Literature Appreciation
Rachel R. Tatro-Duarte
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, California State University, Bakersfield
Although virtual reality (VR) is commonly used in science classes, for example, to enable students to do simulated human dissections and other medical procedures, research on the use of VR as a learning tool in the humanities, more specifically the literature classroom, are few. This grounded theory study sought to understand better the use of VR in a higher ed literature classroom. The findings of this study resulted in a learning model for virtual reality and literature and articulate concatenated stages by which participants experience "Adaptability," "Transitionality," "Fusion," "Enhancement," and "Knowledge Transference."
