ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Northeastern University
The purpose of this case study was to explore the process of providing wraparound services and the community that supports facilitators working with students in a school setting in a southwestern state. Communities of practice (CoP) provided the theoretical framework for this study's design and analysis. The central research question for this study is: "How do school-based wraparound facilitators describe the process of delivering wraparound services?" The secondary question is as follows: "How do SBWF describe the community that supports their success and shared interests in delivering wraparound services?" The findings indicate that the wraparound facilitator takes a holistic approach while working with students, taking into consideration both their academic and social-emotional needs. The support and collaboration from the school help to build partnership in the school community and are essential to the planning and delivery of wraparound services. School meetings serve as an essential mechanism of communication and information sharing within the CoP. The wraparound agency provides support and guidance for wraparound facilitators to help their performance. Cross-functional work between the members of the community generates continuous improvement and provides access to meaningful contributions. Recommendations for practice for the wraparound agency include establishing a shared interest and meeting forum in their community, augmenting wraparound conditions for success, improving training, and enhancing community partnership.
