Self-Reflective Action Research Model for Creating a Digital Learning Laboratory
Stuart T. Guthrie
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Lamar University - Beaumont
This study was designed to produce a model for creating an affordable digital learning laboratory on a K-12 school campus. The need for a digital learning space is directly derived from the struggles of K-12 students to produce such objects during the COVID-19 global pandemic. This project outlines the recommended planning phases that can transform an underutilized space on a school campus into a high-end digital learning laboratory where students create digital artifacts that demonstrate creativity and higher-order thinking skills. This self-reflective action research project includes insights from those that planned and created such a space -- the "planners" and the teachers that were and are instrumental in the creation and use of the digital laboratory. Direct statements and perceptions of the researcher and other participants are intertwined in the retrospective report of this project. The current status of this project is ongoing, as the organic nature of this creative space continues to evolve along with the needs and aspirations of the students and teachers.
