Branda Kates Kornegay
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Mississippi College
This study examined whether or not principals' selected demographic characteristics influenced their perceptions of performance pay toward teacher practices and workload. The demographic characteristics of principals and assistant principals included: (a) Years of Experience; (b) Levels of Education (bachelors, masters, specialist, doctorate) and (c) School Assignment (elementary, middle, high). The participants of this study consisted of a random sample of public school principals from selected school districts in Mississippi in the 2022-2023 school year. The participants completed a 12 question attitudinal survey. The data in the study revealed the majority of principals had 11 to 20 years of experience, held a specialist degree and high school as their school assignment. The results indicate that principals' years of experience, levels of education and school assignment were not influencing factors in their perceptions of performance pay toward teacher practices and workload.
