Prophet-Bullock, Ebony E.
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, State University of New York at Buffalo
This qualitative case study sought to discover how school-level data teams can intentionally use effective data practices to identify and implement high-leverage interventions that support all students, including Black and Latinx boys, in attaining the necessary academic requirements for high school graduation. The researcher analyzed data from surveys, focus group interviews, observation of data team practice, and document reviews. As a result of this study, the researcher found that effective data teams have established systems, structures, and protocols to analyze data. Moreover, effective data teams' protocols include data harvesting and analysis practices that help them align intervention strategies based on the student data related to ensuring the on-time high school graduation of males of color. Lastly, the results of this study add to the existing scholarship and provide insights for further research on this topic and help BPS to support teachers and leaders in the field better as they implement strategies in support of on-time graduation for Black and Latinx boys.
