Improving the Understanding of Information Security Adherence in Higher Education: A Quantitative Ex-Post Facto Design Study
Bodnar, Richard Carl
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Northcentral University
Evidence suggests that adherence to information security policies is one of the best and most cost-effective ways to protect an organization. Much of the current research suggests that user behavior is often to blame for vulnerabilities being exploited. Employees that have a high level of information security awareness appear to perform well regarding information security policies. Higher education institutions have some unique challenges in terms of information security. The focus of this study is to look at higher education institutions to understand ways that can encourage individuals in higher education to follow organizational information security practices. This study utilizes an instrument previously developed that appears to effectively measure the information security awareness of participants.
