Big Data Technology (BDT) and Analytics have gained immense recognition in recent years. BDT plays an essential role in various sectors. This study intends to provide a review of BDT in the education sector which includes analyzing, predicting learner's results based on behavior patterns, assessing their performance regularly. Education institutions are beginning to use analytics and techniques for improving the services they provide and to enhance learner's performance and retention. BDT in education involves Data Mining, Data Analytics. This study also aims at investigating the techniques referred to as Educational Data Mining (EDM) and Learning Analytics (LA) influencing online learning systems. Thus, this research study will examine the field of EDM and LA which give an effective understanding on student's learning methods and identify their educational outcomes.
