Research Library Issues. RLI 300: GLAM Collaboration Opportunities and Challenges
Kennedy, Mary Lee, Ed.
Association of Research Libraries
This time of accentuated interdependence and acute awareness of a historical moment calls on galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAMs) to respond together and to lead forward. Memory institutions are unique trusted stewards of time. When humanity experiences a global event such as the current COVID-19 pandemic, these institutions are grounded in the moment, and in their role throughout history told and yet to come. This issue of "Research Library Issues" offers three articles that reflect on the value of GLAM collaborations as well as the voices of institutional leaders looking at the opportunities for even greater collaboration as the world works through history in the making. The three articles include: (1) If You Want to Go Far, Go Together: The Collaboration among the GLAM Community in Canada (2016-2019) (Guy Berthiaume); (2) C-R-E-A-T-E: Building an Institutional Cultural Resources Platform (Jill Deupi, Charles Eckman, and Christina Larson); and (3) GLAM Collaborations under COVID-19 Conditions and Beyond (Mary Lee Kennedy).
