Middle School Educators' Perspective on the Effectiveness of Olweus Bullying Prevention Program: Addressing Bullying for Students with Special Needs

Bullying is an epidemic that has rapidly gained national attention throughout schools. This serious problem has resulted in fights, school-wide killings, and suicides. This has forced many school districts to implement bullying prevention strategies. Some school districts have taken the extent to invest on research-based bullying prevention programs. Research has documented that bullying is an extensive problem located within the adolescent population; thus, the purpose of this study is to gather the perspectives of middle school educators on the effectiveness of Olweus Bullying Prevention Program and how it addresses students with special needs. Using a mixed methods approach will examine perspective and experiences of middle school educators. The study is designed to collect quantitative information related to Olweus Bullying Prevention Program in middle school along with descriptive details from open-ended questions.
