Students' attitudes towards writing in English play a crucial role in getting students involved in the writing process. The integration of different elements and awareness of the importance of writing effectively in preparation for the career readiness at the university level require a vast amount of efforts in regards to methodology and assessment tools. Therefore, through the use of four different research instruments, the expected outcome of this study was to discover how students' attitudes affect their writing area and the implications for curriculum design. Valuable information was collected in relation to gaining insight of the authentic practices developed in the classroom scenario at a private school. The results generated represented students' actual experience during the time of the study. Students demonstrated mastery of the elements of a sentence structure enhanced by assessment tools that motivated them in developing their writing area. Fun activities were key elements in getting students to write freely. Findings of the study provided an enriching insight regarding attitudes versus core standards. The core standards for writing focus on challenging pieces of writing which need a lot of role modeling of sample writing and meaningful connection along with vocabulary enrichment. At this point strategies used were based on the basic elements of the language structure. Further on it was expected for students to begin their journey on the writing expectations required by the core standards. Teachers presented concern for the core standards, the demanding challenges of the pieces of writing, and the time allotment required in order to reach expected outcomes. The only period for ample exposition in writing is the English class. There is no extension for the other subject areas to integrate a formal writing experience. Thus, the current study recommends a continuous effort in providing enriching activities and professional development for teachers on how to fulfill the requirements of the writing standards and enhance students' motivation towards writing.
