Jahan, Afroze
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Lamar University - Beaumont
The purpose of this quantitative study was to explore the effect of Project Lead the Way(TM) Engineering Curriculum on the academic performance of Grades 9-12 students in a Southwest Texas school district. Study participants were comprised of 9-12 graders who participated in Advanced Placement (AP) Testing in a large Southeast Texas school district. Archival data was collected from the 2016-2017 school year and 2017-2018 school year, and included AP data for both students who participated in PLTW curriculum, and those who did not. Descriptive and inferential statistics were run for all participants in this study, namely measures of central tendency and independent samples t-tests. Results of the study documented that there was no significant difference in the AP test performance between both groups. The findings of this study indicate the need for further research in this area, given that there are numerous reasons that could explain this result.
