Currin, Elizabeth; Schroeder, Stephanie; McCardle, Todd
AERA Online Paper Repository, Paper presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association (New York City, NY, Apr 13-17, 2018)
This presentation shares findings from a qualitative study investigating the following research questions: (1) What impact did the 2016 election have on Opt Out Florida? and (2) What are the leaders' goals during a Trump presidency? In addition to sharing our findings, we build on critical ethnographic data regarding the Opt Out Florida movement and, combining that data with our current study results, we share implications regarding the intricacies of education activism and the dilemmas facing the education organizer in a neoliberal era.
