Tutors' Perceptions of an Online Writing Consultation Center
Ramirez-Espinola, Mirta
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Trident University International
This three-article dissertation explored tutors' perceptions of online writing tutoring. Article One is a literature review of writing programs, culmination with a discussion of online writing tutoring. Article Two is a qualitative case study that investigated how tutors perceive their work using both asynchronous and synchronous modes of tutoring online at a 4-year university. Findings focus on tutors' perceptions, training modalities, the use of technology in online writing tutoring, and guiding pedagogy. Article Three is a training that may enhance the practice of university online writing tutoring, supported by both the literature review from Article One and the study findings from Article Two. It includes a discussion of best practices for writing centers to follow to engage students in online writing tutoring.
