ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, University of West Georgia
This study investigated the influences of STEM leadership training on pre-service school leaders' self-efficacy levels, beliefs and skills toward STEM education. The study was guided by three major research questions: (1) What are the influences of STEM leadership training on improving pre-service school leaders' readiness to support STEM education? (2) What are the influences of STEM leadership training on improving pre-service school leaders' self-efficacy in supporting STEM education? (3) How can STEM leadership training influence attitudes and beliefs of pre-service leaders in regards to implementing STEM education efforts? Two-day STEM leadership training program was conducted at New England University (pseudonym) educational leadership department. 52 educators enrolled in intermediate administrator certification program that equips educators to be administrators in schools ranging from assistant principal up to assistant superintendent participated in this comprehensive STEM leadership training. This study provides practical information and strategies in improving pre-service school leaders' self-efficacy and readiness in supporting STEM education for school districts and school leader preparation programs. It also presents foundational understandings of the influence of STEM leadership training in implementing STEM projects and virtual learning platforms that can inform school leader preparation programs.
