Job Satisfaction, Career Departure, and Mobility Intentions among School Principals in Southern Ethiopia
Bogale, Nasser
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, University of the Cumberlands
The purpose of the study was to determine the level of influence of factors on the career departure and mobility intentions of school principals in Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Survey data were analyzed on 193 high school principals currently working in the region. An ANOVA suggested that there was a significant difference among three groups of principals' ages with regard to compensation factor, group one (M = 3.73), group two (M = 3.68), and group three (M = 3.63) existed, (F[2, 193] = 0.75, p < 0.05). When factors such as environmental, relational, and compensation were tested using multiple regressions, compensation was the only factor that made significant contribution to the prediction (beta = 0.449, p < 0.001). Results suggest that principals' intention to leave their schools for better paying positions could not be prevented by relational or environmental factors alone.
