Tier Two Social Emotional Learning to Increase Academic Achievement

Social emotional learning and the impact it has on academic achievement has been studied. The focus on previous research was tier one social emotional learning. This study researched the affect tier two social emotional learning has on academic achievement for targeted students identified as having a need for tier two social emotional learning. A title one elementary school is the focus of this study and students were identified to receive tier two social emotional learning through a screener. Tier two social emotional learning was provided and the academic achievement of the students in the intervention was compared to a comparison group of students within the same school setting and respective grade levels.
