Work Ethics Training: Reflections of Technical College Students
Wilson, Sandy
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Northcentral University
Ample research exists on ethics in the workplace and skills college graduates should have to seek and attain long-term gainful employment. The literature has provided some insight into the understanding of ethical behavior as reported by students and employers; however a gap exists in research which documents college student experiences during training in work ethics and proper workplace behavior. Many colleges have instituted training in work ethic alongside occupational training at the behest of employers to ensure college graduates are successful in attaining employment and meeting the needs of the local job market. The problem is that it has been a challenge to articulate the experiences of college students attending work ethic training so that the interpretation of those experiences benefit what is now a diverse cultural, religious and social student body going into the workforce. The purpose of this qualitative study is to document and gain insight into the student experience of attending work ethics training.
