Increasing Impact of Technology in Higher Education
Utah System of Higher Education
For Fall 2016, of the 175,509 students enrolled in the Utah System of Higher Education at third week, 69,535 (39.6 %) are participating in some form of technology delivered instruction. Of that total, 54,269 (30.9%) enrolled in at least one online class. Despite availability of online courses and degrees, students prefer using online courses to augment a traditional campus schedule. 88% of all students who enrolled Fall 2016 took the majority of their courses on campus. Less than 3% of full-time students are enrolled solely in online courses. 52% of students who enrolled solely in online classes are part-time and over 25 years old. This report looks at technology-delivered Instruction and Learning in the Utah System of Higher Education.
