Looking at Students' Work: Assessment Strategies That Inform Instruction
College Board, Slides presented at the Advanced Placement Annual Conference (APAC) (Lake Buena Vista, FL, Jul, 18-22, 2012)
Looking beyond the right or wrong answer is imperative to the development of effective educational environments conducive to Pre-AP work in math. This presentation explores a system of evaluation in math that provides a personalized, student-reflective model correlated to consortia-based assessment. Using examples of students' work that includes performance based tasks, the presentation will explore, evaluate and identify key factors relevant to successful student outcomes in assessments that include extended constructed response items, scored with rubrics.
