This study examines principal turnover in Georgia public elementary schools during a time period prior to the existence of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, through the law's full implementation. Data was compiled for the fourteen-year period and examined to determine if a relationship existed between principal attrition rates and the different phases of No Child Left Behind implementation. This was completed using a quantitative quasi-experimental interrupted time series design, and analysis showed that adding No Child Left Behind information to the simulated attrition rate resulted in a predictive model that closely followed the actual principal attrition rates, including noticeable peaks and valleys present in the actual trend line. Further research may include expanding the study to include other states, or secondary schools. Another potential research opportunity involves examining principal attrition rates for states that do not comply with No Child Left Behind.
