The knowledge society, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), and the market economy are increasing the demand for tertiary and continuing education. Traditional higher education institutions (HEIs) are no longer the only delivers of academic courses and programs. Globalization is changing the world and internationalization is changing higher education. This paper is an exploration of world trends in crossborder education--a key agenda item for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and other international organizations.
