Bridging the Adolescent Literacy Gap: The Effectiveness of a Tier II Intervention
Dunaway, Shelly R.
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Trevecca Nazarene University
The purpose of this quasi-experimental research project was to create and evaluate a Tier II intervention under IDEA's "Response to Intervention" (RTI). This research examined student reading attitudes and achievement data of students participating in READ180 and in Language! The results revealed the intervention did improve students' reading attitudes as well as reading achievement specifically with those students participating in READ180. Although statistical analysis indicated that this intervention project did not increase student achievement according to district or State benchmarks for proficiency, the results did reveal that this intervention was an effective tool for increasing students' adequate yearly progress (AYP).
