This study examined the perception of parents and teachers toward the transition process of students who are deaf/hard-of-hearing from an auditory-oral school to the general education setting. The study was mixed methods in nature, using a phenomenological case study design coupled with descriptive statistics. In-depth interviews of a criterion-based sample of parents who have experienced the process of transitioning his or her child from an auditory-oral school into the general education setting were conducted as the primary data gathering method. From that parent sample, teachers of the same child were asked to answer survey questions pertaining to the transition, academics, and socialization. The interview transcripts and surveys were analyzed using a phenomenological data analysis technique. The findings of the analysis indicated that parents and teachers were satisfied with the transition process and preparedness of the child to enter the general education setting, students were maintaining academic progress, and students ranged in performance between average and well in terms of socialization.
