This bulletin, the fifth in a series, includes brief descriptions of research projects approved by the Cooperative Research Program of the Office of Education during the fiscal year 1961. Most of the projects were negotiated into contract in fiscal year 1961; however, some were contracted in fiscal year 1962. Each description contains a statement of the problem under investigation, the objectives of the project, and the procedures used to carry out the research. The name(s) and title(s) of the investigator(s), the contracting institution, the duration of the project, the starting and completion dates, and the assigned project number are also included. Research is identified in 6 categories: (1) Administration and personnel; (2) Characteristics of learners; (3) Curriculum and instruction; (4) Guidance and learning theory; (5) Sociology of education; and (6) Special education. Appended are lists of: (1) Investigators and institutions engaged in cooperative research projects contracted during fiscal year 1961; (2) Locations in which research projects were initiated during fiscal year 1961; and (3) Projects, in numerical order.
