Secondary Traumatic Stress, Vicarious Trauma, and the Supervisory Working Alliance in Counselor Trainees
Wood, Sara LaRose
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Regent University
This study examined the relationship between secondary traumatic stress (STS), vicarious trauma (VT), and the supervisory working alliance (SWA) with the faculty supervisor among counselor trainees (N = 86). The primary purpose of this study was to determine if the SWA and demographic influence STS and VT. Two correlations were conducted to assess the relationship between the SWA and both STS and VT. Two multiple regressions were conducted to determine the predictive value of the SWA and demographic factors with STS and VT. Whereas the study documented the prevalence of STS and VT in counselor trainees, the results indicated no significant relationships among the SWA or the demographic factors and STS or VT.
