This research and the ensuing report of the results were completed to fulfill an obligation and to further the educational and spiritual growth of the researcher. The strong beliefs of the researcher dictated the topic of research. The intention was to introduce the unknowing to spiritual healing as an integrative medical practice, to convince the non-believers of the merit and credibility of the practice, and to allow those already in the light to enhance their practices and connectedness with others in the field. Participants in the project were gathered through the snowballing method from persons already known to the researcher and information was gained through reported research of others and interviews with practicing spirit healers, utilizing the Heuristic inquiry method which allowed for the researcher to inject personal thoughts and experiences into the process. Four major themes emerged from the interview gathered data. Emerging themes showed that spiritual healing is a process, a way of being, with a need to self-heal, and spiritual healing also possesses numerous characteristics supported by varying beliefs. While spiritual healing has traditionally been practiced since recorded time by various ethnic cultures around the world and American Indians, its acceptance as a viable medical practice by the majority of Americans is still forthcoming. It is encouraging that this project topic has been enthusiastically accepted by highly educated faculty members at a state university. Of utmost interest and importance to this researcher will be looking back from a later date compare the acceptance and use of spiritual healing from now into the future.
