Satisfaction of Supervisory Working Alliance: Distance versus Face-to-Face
Dickens, Angelia Dawn Holland
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Regent University
In an attempt to determine the differences between the perceptions of distance and face-to-face faculty supervision, this research surveyed 190 master's-level counseling students regarding their supervisory working alliance and supervision satisfaction. It also explored the differences between the perceptions of practicum- and internship-level students. The results of a MANOVA indicated that there were no significant differences between face-to-face and distance faculty supervision. A correlational analysis identified a positive relationship between the supervisory working alliance and supervision satisfaction. Qualitative interviews were performed to augment the quantitative results. The researchers concluded that the supervisory working alliance can be as satisfactory in distance supervision as face-to-face supervision, regardless of supervisee experience level.
