Faculty Perceptions of Pedagogical Best Practices as They Relate to Online Course Quality
Reif, Richard Joseph
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Oklahoma State University
The purpose of this applied research study was to determine from faculty what they believe are best practices in online education and what they believe will improve online education. The study targeted two-year, public colleges in the State of Oklahoma with complete degrees offered online. The study obtained data regarding the current quality of online coursework and solicited ideas for the improvement of online education. Since the faculty purposefully selected for this study were experienced in both the traditional teaching environment and the online teaching environment, they were well positioned to offer valuable insight and additions to the existing body of best online learning principles. Online education is becoming a dominant form of education and the faculty voice has been conspicuously quiet in research regarding the quality of the online educational experience.
