The purpose of the research is to establish an understanding of relationships with students in public schools and the community. The research was done with looking at the geographic location of students in an urban school district, resources available and the amount of funding. The results concluded that schools, communities and parents have a great deal of work ahead of them to bridge the gap between school and community relationships. The recommendations are for schools to continue to build relationships with community partners, stakeholders, steering committees and parents to help support the vision of the schools, the achievement and the success of students.
