"America's Children: Key National Indicators of Well-Being" provides annual updates on the well-being of children and families in the United States across a range of domains. A more detailed report alternates every other year with a condensed version that highlights selected indicators. This year, the Forum is publishing the full report and will produce a brief report in July 2010. Three demographic background measures and 40 selected indicators describe the population of children and depict child well-being in the areas of family and social environment, economic circumstances, health care, physical environment and safety, behavior, education, and health. This year's report has a special feature on children with special health care needs. The indicators are organized into seven sections: (1) Demographic Background; (2) Family and Social Environment; (3) Economic Circumstances, Health Care; (4) Physical Environment and Safety; (5) Behavior, (6) Education, and (7) Health. Two appendices include: (1) Detailed Tables; and (2) Data Source Descriptions. (Contains 154 notes, 60 figures and 70 tables.) [This report was printed by the U.S. Government Printing Office in cooperation with the National Center for Health Statistics.
