Asthma Information Handbook for Early Care and Education Providers
California Childcare Health Program
With proper care, most children with asthma can lead normal, active lives and can enter school with the same abilities as other children. For this purpose, the Asthma Information Packet for Early Care and Education Providers was designed to cover the following topics: (1) Basic information; (2) How to improve early care and education environments to reduce asthma triggers; (3) How to administer asthma medication; and (4) How to handle asthma emergencies. The Asthma Information Packet for Early Care and Education Providers includes a handbook containing: (1) Sample Child Asthma Plan; (2) Classroom guide for reducing and removing asthma triggers; and (3) Information to help guide communication with parents. A glossary and list of asthma resources, training sources, and tools is provided. Nine forms and handouts conclude the Handbook. [DVD in English and Spanish is also available.]
