Educational Facilities and the Impact of Technology, Expectations, and Competition: Including the Top Ten Critical Facilities Issues. APPA Thought Leaders Series, 2007
Lunday, Elizabeth
APPA: Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers (NJ3)
At the 2007 Thought Leaders Symposium, representatives from student affairs, academic affairs, and administration joined facilities leaders to consider three major challenges confronting higher education as a whole: evolving technology, changing stakeholder expectations, and the impact of competition on both those drivers of change. This report reveals the results of these discussions and poses questions intended to encourage dialogue on campuses between educational facilities professionals and the rest of the academy. The report divides into sections: (1) Critical Issues Facing Higher Education; (2) Top Ten Critical Facilities Issues 2007-08; and (3) Looking Ahead. Appended are: (1) Participants in the 2007 Thought Leaders Summit; and (2) References and Resources. [Funding was provided by Carter & Burgess, Inc. and IBM.]
