Maine's Balance of Representation: Information and Results

This document, a companion to the "LAS Guide Principles and Criteria for the Adoption of Local Assessment Systems," [ED484135] presents results that are intended to provide Maine's school administrative units with an option for selecting sample performance indicators to be assessed through the Local Assessment System to meet the requirements for the selection and distribution types as described in the LAS Guide Criterion 1. The data in this publication are the results from the Department of Education's Two-Day Balance of Representation Institute that was held May 5 and May 17, 2002 at the Banghor Civic Center. Appendices include: (1) Balance of Representation Participant Lists; (2) Agendas for Balance of Representation Sessions; (3) Rating Scales Used for Establishing Balance of Representation; (4) Performance Indicator Ratings by Discipline (Career Preparation; English Language Arts; Health and Physical Education; Mathematics; Modern and Classical Languages; Science and Technology; Social Studies; and Visual and Performing Arts); and (5) Graphic Representation of Content Standard Weightings by Discipline.
