eCPD in Action and Self-Assessment

Self-assessment is an integral component in the life of any education and training organisation so as to ensure quality improvement. This publication illustrates an individual self-assessment tool developed by the Learning and Skills Network (LSN) which gives feedback and support to assist staff to enhance their teaching and learning through the use of technology. Specifically, the self-assessment tool consists of two components: (1) ICT self-assessment -based on the e-skills IT qualification (ITQ) standards; and (2) eCPD self-assessment--based on the Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) e-learning standards. This publication is divided into the following sections: (1) E-learning and eCPD; (2) eCPD Methodology and Framework Implementation; and (3) The Need for Self-Assessment. Appendices include: (1) Help notes relating to self-assessment tools; (2) About feedback; (3) The e-Learning Continuing Professional Development (eCPD) hybrid framework; and (4) Glossary of terms, acronyms and abbreviations.
