This report on state virtual schools outlines the recent trends associated with virtual high schools over the last 15 years. It notes that early trends indicate that virtual schools are on the rise. The report provides reasons for why the trends have occurred, and describes the Southern Regional Education Board's role in providing information and leadership to states on the issue of virtual high schools. The majority of the report is a detailed survey of the many virtual high schools in the region. This report is an updated version of an earlier report and reflects the growing use of the Web by states.
