Chermack, Thomas J.; Walton, John S.
Online Submission, Paper presented at the Academy of Human Resource Development International Conference (AHRD) (Austin, TX, Mar 3-7, 2004) p198-205 (Symp. 9-3)
This paper examines the role of scenario planning as a development and change intervention. To do so, this article provides an overview of scenario planning and an overview of development and change in organizations. The article then builds on the philosophical orientations of development and change through scenario planning introducing the concepts of autopoiesis and requisite variety. The article concludes with implications for HRD professionals. (Contains 1 table and 2 figures.) [For complete proceedings, see ED491481.]
