Canadian colleges and institutes are well-positioned to respond to the needs of immigrants given the role of these institutions in providing learning opportunities for 900 communities across the country. Colleges and institutes have demonstrated leadership in increasing access, effectiveness and efficiency through the application of prior learning assessment and recognition principles and practices. It is known that colleges and institutes have a strong mandate for and extensive experience in working with disadvantaged individuals. This final report provides and overview of the: (1) Programs and services colleges and institutes are offering, how these programs and services are funded, where they are being delivered and how they are being accessed; (2) Partnerships colleges and institutes are involved in for the delivery of these programs and services; (3) Barriers colleges and institutes face in providing these programs and services; (4) Barriers faced by immigrants in accessing college/institute programs and services; (5) Lessons colleges' and institutes' have learned through the delivery of programs and services for immigrants; and (6) Conclusions and outcomes of the Immigration Roundtable, including a Process Model and Strategy for the integration of immigrants. The following are appended: (1) Interview and Survey Questionnaires; (2) List of Colleges and Institutes Interviewed; and (3) Summary of Immigration Roundtable Discussions.
