K-12 Guidelines for English Language Proficiency. Version 2
Nebraska State Department of Education
The "K-12 Guidelines for English Language Proficiency" were developed as a supplement to the Nebraska State Standards. All English Language Learner (ELL) students are required by the Nebraska Department of Education to meet or exceed the Nebraska State Standards (LEARNS) or district approved standards. These guidelines present districts, content area teachers, and ELL teachers a working document that bridges the gap between state standards and second language acquisition. The following are included in this document: (1) K-12 Guidelines for English Language Proficiency; (2) Guidelines Grade Cluster K-2; (3) Guidelines Grade Cluster 3-5; (4) Guidelines Grade Cluster 6-9; (5) Guidelines Grade Cluster 9-12; (6) Students with Limited Formal Schooling; (7) Frequently Asked Questions; (8) Glossary; and (9) Rule 10 Appendices.
