Semantics for E-Learning: An Advanced Knowledge Management Oriented Metadata Schema for Learning Purposes.
Lytras, Miltiadis D.
The research described in this paper is concentrated on the demand for high quality interchangeable knowledge objects capable of supporting dynamic learning initiatives. The general metadata models (Dublin Core, IMS, LOM, SCORM) for knowledge objects enrichment are reviewed and a critique is provided in order to claim the importance of the justification of an "interchangeable knowledge objects standard" for learning purposes. The overall objective is the justification of a dynamic learning environment capable of supporting the value diffusion. Discussion includes the reusability of learning content and metadata; reusability of learning content and knowledge management convergence; and multidimensional dynamic learning proposed metadata schema.
