Interactive Books To Read & Sing.
Butt, Donna Sabino; Thurman, Kathy Barlow
Interactive books have parts or pieces that children can manipulate while reading the text. In the interactive books described in this classroom resource book for students in grades PreK-1, the pieces are attached to Velcro and can be moved from one part of the book to another, while the text consists of verses set to familiar tunes so that children can interact both musically (by singing the text) and through fine-motor movement (by manipulating the book pieces). The resource book provides reproducible patterns, instructions, and verses for more than 25 interactive books covering language, math, science, arts, and humanities, practical living, and character education. The book offers language extension activities, too. The book is divided into these sections: Introduction: Letter from the Authors; What Are Interactive Books and Why Use Them?; How to Make Interactive Books; How to Introduce and Use Interactive Books; How Interactive Books Fit into the Curriculum; and the 25 interactive books. Also contains 7 references, an expanded skills grid, and an index of interactive books. (NKA)
