Partners in Quality is a research and development project sponsored by the Canadian Child Care Federation and its affiliates to explore how child care providers, parents, and other partners can work together to support and improve quality in child care. This booklet, in both English and French, supplements a series to support child care providers and to enhance the dialogue within communities on the importance of quality child care environments. The booklet is designed to be used for two workshops within the Partners in Quality series, the first introducing standards for quality child care programs, and the second introducing standards of practice for administrators/directors of child care programs. The booklet is organized into two parts. Part 1 presents standards for quality child care programs in 10 areas: (1) conceptual framework; (2) program policies and procedural guidelines; (3) physical facility; (4) supplies and equipment; (5) human resources; (6) partnerships with children's families; (7) record keeping and information systems; (8) administration; (9) program monitoring and evaluation; and (10) governance standards for centers and family child care agencies. Part 2 of the booklet presents standards of practice for administrators/directors of child care programs in five areas: (1) staffing; (2) environment; (3) governance; (4) finances; and (5) communications.
