This document offers statistical data, in table format, for Mississippi's community and junior colleges for fiscal year 2000-2001. Mississippi has 15 community and junior college districts, which are attended by over 60% of Mississippi high school graduates who attend college. Highlights of the data presented are as follows: (1) the total headcount for all colleges for FY 2000-01 was 123,595, a 2.2% decrease from the previous year; (2) the credit headcount was 55,521, a 3.5 % increase from the previous year, while the noncredit headcount of 68,074 was 6.4% lower than the previous year; (3) Black students accounted for 34.6% of total enrollment, Hispanics 0.5%, and Whites 62.3%; (4) total education and general expenditures were just over $335 million, with 59.6% of those expenditures going to instruction, 11.2% going to student services, and 12.1% going to operation of physical plant; (5) for fiscal year 2000-2001, the system awarded 3,955 associate degrees, 2,773 associate of applied science degrees, and 8,437 certificates; and (6) the average percentage of the school budget spent on the Learning Resource Center is 3.07%, the average spent on administration is 25%, and the average expenditure for staffing is 60.8% of the school budget.
