School Based Mental Health Services Help Kids Cope. Connect for Kids: Guidance for Grown-Ups.
Newberger, Julee
This article reviews the importance of school based mental health services to the development of children. Citing the work of the Childrens Aid Society, the author notes that education does not take place in isolation and that the most effective school reforms combine educational excellence with needed human services, delivered through school, family, and community partnerships. Following statistics on mental illness in school children, the article highlights the benefits and challenges of school based health care. (GCP)
