Brown, Brett; Smith, Berkeley; Harper, Michelle
The last few years have seen a growing interest in comparative international research on children and youth and in the development of internationally comparable indicators of well-being. This paper provides an overview of 13 international surveys that can be used to support such work. In addition to a basic description of the survey, each overview lists the following: (1) participating countries; (2) the types of measures collected; (3) how to access the data for analysis; (4) how the surveys are funded; and (5) contact information. The surveys described in this paper are: (1) Health Behavior of School Children; (2) Asian Young Adult Reproductive Risk Project; (3) Caribbean Youth Health Survey; (4) Third International Mathematics and Science Study; (5) IEA Civic Education Study; (6) Progress in International Reading Literacy Study and the Reading Literacy Study; (7) Preprimary Project; (8) Program for International Student Assessment; (9) Second International Technology in Education Study; (10) European Community Household Panel; (11) Luxembourg Income Study; (12) Luxembourg Employment Study; and (13) International Social Survey Program.
