End-of-Grade Multiple-Choice Test Results, 2000-2001. Measuring Up. E&R Report.
Dulaney, Chuck; Burch, Glenda
This report presents the results of Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) students on the North Carolina End-of-Grade (EOG) multiple-choice tests from May and June 2001. The EOG tests have several components, but all are designed to measure student achievement of the knowledge and skills of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for students in grades 3 through 8. WCPSS EOG multiple-choice results for the 2000-2001 school year showed increases at all grade levels in both proficiency and average scale score in reading. In mathematics, results show increases in proficiency at all grade levels. Math scale scores were recalculated, and comparisons to previous years are not valid. The percentages of students meeting or exceeding grade level standards in reading and mathematics at all grade levels are the highest WCPSS students have ever achieved. Gains in reading were shown by almost all race and gender groups, and mathematics gains were even larger. A table shows EOG mean scale scores by school. (Contains 1 table and 13 figures.) (SLD)
